**Statement.** Can an organism's traits be predicted from its genome?

Most traits depend on thousands of variants of tiny effect interacting with environment. Height, one of the best-studied traits, is now largely explained by common variants, but for most traits prediction is weak. The missing link is development: how a genome builds a body.
