Room-temperature, ambient-pressure superconductor
Hydrides under megabar pressure superconduct at over 200 K, but only inside diamond anvils. Claims of ambient-pressure room-temperature superconductivity have repeatedly failed replication: the 2023 LK-99 claim was explained by copper sulfide impurities within weeks, and several high-profile hydride papers were retracted. The problem has a clean verifier: zero resistance and a Meissner effect, reproduced in independent labs.
What would settle it
Four-probe zero resistance plus Meissner effect, independently replicated
