Zeno's paradoxes of motion

The mathematics of limits and convergent series, made rigorous in the 19th century, shows that infinitely many shrinking steps can take finite time. Some philosophers argue this answers the mathematical form and leaves the metaphysical form, completing an infinite sequence of acts, untouched.

Posed c. 5th century BCE, Zeno of Elea.
